NW Maritime Center Luke Tornatzky Art Exhibit Sept. 2012

Luke Tornatzky’s solo exhibit at the Northwest Maritime Center’s Trettor Gallery  continues through Sept. 30. The artist will be painting on site at the Wooden Boat Festival, Friday-Sunday, Sept 7-9.

Sponsored by the Port Townsend School of Maritime Art, the exhibition includes Tornatzky’s personal collection of classic and new paintings of small craft, in both large and small scale oils and pastels.

“I’m intrigued by the shape of small boats and their reflections  on water, the play of color and light in all weather, even rain, says Tornatzky, who has sailed in Salish Sea waters and beyond for the past 20 years.  He was the poster artist for the 24th annual Wooden Boat Festival twelve years ago.

Tornatzky is represented by the Patricia Rovzar Gallery, Seattle and his work collected worldwide. A portion of proceeds of work sold during the month of Sept. will be donated to the Wooden Boat Foundation and Northwest Maritime Center’s education programs.
